Nonmetallic elements that are lusterless and solid; they possess a certain amount of electric and thermal conductivity


lusterless = not bright 

detergents = a chemical substance in the form of a powder or a liquid for removing dirt (e.g. soap)

indispensable = absolutely necessary

trace element = simple chemical substance that is necessary for healthy growth and development, and exist in animals and plants in very small quantities
