page layout = the arrangement of visual elements on a page
graphic communications = the study of how we convey meaning through visual design which includes the creation, production, management and distribution of advertising, marketing, websites, mobile apps, books, packaging and other media in printed and digital form.
desktop publishing = the design of a layout using software
desktop publishing software = a computer program used by publishers
electronic page (not a web page!) = content in a form of a page for presentations or documents that originate or remain as visual electronic documents
comprehensive layout = a piece that is ready for print
electronic paper = technology that makes it possible to read text easily on an electronic device
offset lithography = a method of mass-production printing in which the images on metal plates are transferred (offset) to rubber blankets or rollers and then to the print media
electrostatic printing = a process (such as xerography) for printing or copying in which electrostatic forces are used to form the image (as with powder or ink) directly on a surface
clip art = simple pictures and symbols made available for computer users to add to their documents
